Sharing the learning

I attended the Wales TUC Stakeholders meet in Wrexham on Wednesday, what an inspiring day.

Andrew Martin Senior Sector Unit Manager at Welsh Assembly Government gave us even more excellent news regarding Basic Skill,s and emphasised the need for seamless partnership between WULF and ES.

Marie Qazzaz WULF Project manager for UCATT talked about her work with housing associations, that's one determined lady who has cracked such a difficult project due to the transient nature of the workforce. Marie also talked about the ability of ULR's to communicate at the right level with fellow workers.

Adrian Roper from Cartefi Cymru mentioned about staff being promoted beyond their IT skills, which struck a chord with me. This is a definite barrier for good people not putting themselves up for promotion also.

Donna Hutton a Unison regional Organiser talked about helping people go through change, isn't that the one constant in life these days?

Alli Hunt from NSAN gave a great overview of the work going on to support training in the nuclear industry.

I gave an overview of the work we are doing at Wylfa and within Magnox to encourage Life Long Learning.

Louise Lawrence for Arfon Dwyfor Training talked about the Essential skills training they provide, but here own personal story of her pathway through education really struck a chord, one the great lessons, not everyone is in the right place at the right time in school and equally not everyone knows what career path they want at 16!

The learning stories from Jean Richards and Vanessa Doughty also were very inspiring and both are forces to be reckoned with!
